ソロモン諸島政府側からは、アゴヴァカ外務・貿易大臣、ダグラス文化・観光大臣、マハガ商務・工業大臣ほか要人が来日、日本政府側からは、生稲外務大臣政務官、樋口在ソロモン諸島日本国大使、森岡大阪府副知事、山本大阪市副市長ほか多数が参加、また北野ソロモン諸島名誉総領事（北野建設株式会社 代表取締役会長）も同席されました。

 

イベントでは、舞台上で迫真のソロモン諸島の民族舞踊を鑑賞し、背景の映像とともに同国の自然と共存する文化の素晴らしさが披露されました。午餐会では、ソロモン諸島と我が国の文化や歴史などに関する話題に花を咲かせました。

 

また、両国代表はともに今後の貿易、経済、文化等の分野をはじめ、戦没者遺骨帰還事業に対する実施・協力につき確認しました。

 

特にダグラス文化・観光大臣と当会とは、戦争の歴史を通じて民間レベルでの平和交流の深化を図ることが重要であるとお話ししました。

【 Participation in the Solomon Islands National Day and Luncheon at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai 】

 

On Thursday, October 2, at the invitation of All Japan Solomon Association for the 2025 World Exposition, Kankoh Sakitsu, the Director General of our Association, attended the Solomon Islands National Day official event and luncheon held within the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai venue.

 

From the Solomon Islands Government, the delegation included Hon. Peter Agovaka, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Barlington Douglas, Minister for Culture and Tourism, and Hon. Frederick Maehaga, Minister for Commerce and Industry, among other distinguished officials.

 

From the Japanese side, participants included Ms. Akiko Ikuina, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Takeshi Higuchi, Ambassador of Japan to the Solomon Islands, Mr. Morioka, Vice-Governor of Osaka Prefecture, Mr. Yamamoto, Deputy Mayor of Osaka City, and many others.

 

Mr. Kitano, Honorary Consul of the Solomon Islands and Chairman of Kitano Construction Co., Ltd., was also in attendance.

 

The event featured a powerful performance of traditional Solomon Islands dance, accompanied by beautiful video images showcasing the nation’s rich natural environment and harmonious way of life.

 

During the luncheon, participants enjoyed cordial discussions on topics related to the culture and shared history of the Solomon Islands and Japan, deepening mutual understanding and friendship.

 

Both national representatives reaffirmed their commitment to further cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, and culture, as well as continued collaboration on the repatriation of war remains.

 

In particular, Mr. Sakitsu and Minister Douglas shared the view that enhancing grassroots-level peace exchanges based on the shared history of war is of great importance for the future relationship between the two nations.
