【 Courtesy Visit by the Captain of Kakabona Village to the Embassy of Japan in Solomon Islands 】
On Friday, February 27, Mr. Mato Mui Liriau, Captain of Kakabona Village and our Association’s local Officer of Transportation and Logistics, paid a courtesy visit to the Ambassador of Japan to Solomon Islands. This visit was made in return for the recent commendation he received from the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, in recognition of his family’s long-standing efforts—since his grandfather’s time—to maintain and care for the Japanese memorial monument.
During this courtesy visit, he presented a gift of appreciation to both the Embassy of Japan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The gift was traditional shell money (a necklace made of shells), which is considered a great honor in Solomon Islands.
He also reported on his engagement with the Japan Association for Recovery and Repatriation of War Casualties(JARRWC) and our Association, particularly regarding logistical support, as well as the management and ongoing maintenance of the memorial monument sites. The Embassy expressed its understanding and appreciation of these activities.
We sincerely thank all of you for your continued understanding and support.
